December’s Worship Theme: “Joy”
This congregational year we will explore a different theme each month through our worship services. Our monthly themes each represent an aspect of our theme for the entire congregational year: “Regeneration.” December’s worship theme is “Joy.”

Awaiting Joy The last Sunday in November marked the beginning of Advent, a season of waiting. During this contemplative service, we consider what it means to sit in waiting for the joy that is to come. |

| Tuesday, December 7, 7:00 p.m.
Service of Loss & Remembrance As we enter into the holiday season, we will gather to remember CUC members, personal friends, or family whom we have recently lost. This service will be led by Rev. Andrée and will be supported by the Pastoral Care Team. We will create an altar of remembrance to which you are invited to contribute. Bring a photo, and/or a memento of a loved one that you can share during the service. If you are online, also bring a candle you can light in memory of your loved one. All are welcome to attend. |

The Miracle of Joy Hanukkah begins later this month on December 19. The story of Hanukkah tells the miracle of light in days of darkness. This Sunday, we consider the joy that comes when one experiences such a miracle. Special guest musician: Efrat Shapira (http://www.efratmusic.com/). |

Winter Spiral Service Join us for our all-ages Winter Spiral worship service, created and hosted by our Family Faith Formation Program. Our sanctuary is transformed into a magical winter spiral where together we celebrate the Winter Solstice by exploring the joy to be found during the darkest day of the year. Note: It takes many hands to transform our sanctuary for our service this Sunday. Join us the evening of Friday, December 16 at 4pm – 6pm in the sanctuary as we create our Winter Spiral. We will also enjoy some dinner and cookie decorating while we work together. All are welcome! |

Christmas-Eve Candlelight Service Invite your family and friends to join us for a long-held CUC tradition: our Christmas Eve service. We will gather with song, story and candlelight to celebrate the joy and wonder of the holiday. The CUC Choir will perform. It has been a few years since we have all been able to gather in person for this service. We are asking everyone who plans to attend to register ahead of time so that your staff team can help plan accordingly. |
