At CUC, we believe in putting our values into action. Guided by our commitment to justice, compassion, and equity, we actively support those in need—whether through local outreach programs or deeper engagement with the broader Unitarian Universalist community.

Our service efforts span both hands-on local initiatives and denominational connections, offering opportunities for everyone to get involved in meaningful ways.

Making a Difference Locally

We partner with local organizations that provide food, housing, and support to individuals and families in need. Through these initiatives, we help feed the hungry, shelter those experiencing homelessness, and support survivors of abuse.

Here are a few ways we serve our local community:

• Feeding the Hungry – Partnering with food banks and meal programs to provide nourishment and dignity to those in need.
• Sheltering the Unhoused – Supporting programs that offer transitional housing and long-term solutions for the working homeless.
• Advocating for Survivors – Collaborating with shelters and advocacy groups to provide resources for individuals affected by domestic violence.

Deepening Our Commitment Beyond CUC

As part of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), our community extends beyond our walls. There are many ways to connect with UUs at the regional and national levels, learning, growing, and advocating together for a more just world.

• Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA)—The national organization that provides resources, leadership development, and social justice advocacy.
• Central East Region (CER) of the UUA—Helps congregations of all shapes and sizes connect with each other and with resources that help them best express their Unitarian Universalist faith in a changing and hurting world.
• UU Ministry for Earth—A seedbed for spiritual grounding and education that inspires deep practices of Earth care, justice, and flourishing for all.
• UU Outreach Auction of Bergen County—An annual week-long virtual event dedicated to raising funds for six carefully selected charities that meet vital community needs in Bergen County. 100% of the proceeds go directly to these impactful organizations, regardless of religious affiliation.
• UU Faith Action New Jersey—UU FaithAction NJ coordinates grassroots social justice advocacy with our member congregations, individual UUs, and allies across New Jersey. We work to establish just and compassionate public policy that is consistent with Unitarian Universalist principles.
